University of Iowa Funds in Jeopardy

Iowa Governor, Chet Culver, is preparing to purpose a new state budget that is expected to decrease funds for the University of Iowa by 9 percent.

The budget, which will be approved in April, could cost the university nearly 26 million dollars and may cause additional layoffs.

Iowa City woman involved in child pornography sting

Jane Doe, and Iowa City woman, was charged along with nine others in a local child pornography bust. The chargers came as a result of a federal investigation in the Southern District of Iowa called Operation Wirebreaker.

The United States Attorney’s office announced the charges on Wednesday morning and stated that those found guilty could face up to 10 years in prison and a 250,000 dollar fine.

Hail and Fog Cause Numerous Travel Delays

Many flights at the Eastern Iowa Airport were delayed or cancelled late Thursday due to heavy hail and fog. Delays came after one plane en route to Chicago had to turn around because of the weather conditions.
