Another troublesome bar in Iowa City under attack
Hawkeye Hideaway, a newly established bar in Iowa City owned by Joe Smith, has been asked by the University of Iowa to change the name and colors of the bar due to the assumption that people will think the bar is affiliated with the University. Hawkeye Hideaway is not a formally licensed bar yet with logos, trademarks or words implying the university have to be formally licensed but Smith is continuing to use the name and colors anyway.
Illegal Immigrants stopped by Iowa City police on Interstate 80
An Iowa City police officer pulled over a van, this morning on Interstate 80, with 20 illegal immigrants who all were unable to prove their residency and with their nationalities unknown. Immigration officials eventually came to the scene and brought the illegal immigrants of men, women and children into custody.
Staff shortage at the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center
Due to the flood, which occurred last spring, the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center is unable to help all animal issues within the county because of the staff shortages. The flood has left families to give up, or abandon their pets, to the animal shelter while the shelter is currently searching a new permanent location and to hopefully find more volunteers to help.
